What makes a great resume?

Seven principles we apply to every resume Growth.AiResume generates.

  • Keep it concise

Aim for approximately 1 page per 10 years of experience. Recruiters typically spend 7 to 15 seconds on initial scan. Every line must earn its place.

  • Format matters

Single column is safest for ATS. Avoid colours, photographs, tables, and graphical elements. Use concise bullet points, not text paragraphs.

  • Articulate impact, not responsibilities

"Led a team to reduce onboarding time by 40%" beats "Responsible for onboarding." Measure in: time saved, revenue grown, users acquired, retention improved.

  • Customise for every JD

Sending the same resume everywhere significantly reduces callback rates. Identify required skills from the JD and mirror them with your real experience.

  • Skills and tools section

List tools you can genuinely defend in an interview: analytics (Mixpanel, GA, Amplitude, SQL), design (Figma, Balsamiq), PM tools (Jira, Asana, Monday), and domain tools relevant to the role.

  • ATS formatting rules

Export as PDF (text-based, not image). Avoid Canva and Photoshop. Standard headings only (Summary, Experience, Education, Skills). Contact info in the body, never in headers or footers.

  • One rule above all

Never fabricate metrics, roles, or tools. Modern AI screening and interview questions will expose it.
